Windows Live Messenger Virus - Malware

Windows Live Messenger has many times fallen prey to some malicious softwares like spyware and trojan. These happen when computer hackers transfer a virus infected file to our system or by sending a virus infected message which contains the malicious code. The windows live messenger are very often attacked by viruses or worms with names like W32.Yalove or MsnFake and this always destroys the MSN Messenger network.

Now, the Instant Messenger Security Center, a collaboration between security companies and corporations, has tracked attacks over 1900 IM individual attacks since 2004. A lot of security measures have been implied over the Messengers in their latest versions to avoid infection. Alternatively, Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner, which is a free online virus scanner from Microsoft, is a well-integrated virus scanner for use with Windows Live Messenger.

In short we can conclude that the threat levels have gone very low compared to the previous years, but - "THE THREAT STILL REMAINS".

GOOGLE CHROME Disappoints

Googles latest offering, GOOGLE CHROME (internet browser) fails to meet the expectations. The interface is not very attractive when compared with Mozilla firefox and Internet Explorer 7. The installation takes more time. It took almost 7 minutes on my Notebook which runs windows vista home edition. Initially the installation showed errors like initialization error (Oxc0000135) and then application error.

My third attempt finally forced GOOGLES CHROME to get installed. I expected more from google when they announced the release of CHROME since they already have master players like Mozilla Firefox, Internet explorer, Safari, Opera to compare and compete. Many of the important features were missing (hope they will have more patches ). Lets wait and hope that google will soon bring out an extended version of the present GOOGLE CHROME and why not - Its Google, they will definitely bring out the best - take gtalk instant messenger as an example.

Yahoo hires Google for Boosting Profit

Yahoo has hired Google to sell some online ads in hopes of boosting its profit. The Sunnyvale-based company announced the plans late Thursday after its stock plunged 10 percent on news that its efforts to revive takeover talks with Microsoft had hit a dead end.

Yahoo Inc. is now counting on Google Inc.'s superior moneymaking system to appease its angry shareholders. By using Google's superior advertising technology, Yahoo believes it can boost its annual cash flow by $250 million to $450 million in the first year of the deal.

The partnership could last up to 10 years if it can win antitrust approval.

World's Fastest Computer - "Roadrunner"

The world's fastest supercomputer, Roadrunner was unveiled on Monday. A $100 million machine that could perform 1000 trillion calculations per second, and mostly it could sustain its activity. The project was accomplished by engineers from Alamos National Labs and IBM corp.

According to IBM, Roadrunner is twice as fast as IBM's Blue Gene System which itself is 3 times faster than any other super computers in the world. Since the computer is a speed demon, it could be used for nuclear weapons research. But officials said the computer also could have a wide range of other applications in civilian engineering, medicine and science, from developing biofuels and designing more fuel efficient cars to finding drug therapies and providing services to the financial industry.

To put Roadrunner's speed in perspective, if every one of the 6 billion people on earth used a hand-held computer and worked 24 hours a day it would take them 46 years to do what the Roadrunner computer can do in a single day.

The interconnecting system of Roadrunner occupies 6,000 square feet with 57 miles of fiber optics and weighs 500,000 pounds. Although made from commercial parts, the computer consists of 6,948 dual-core computer chips and 12,960 cell engines, and it has 80 terabytes of memory.

The cost: $100 million.

Internets Big Fight

Every major player in technology wants to create the next great platform, of course. What's new here is that it's possible for any number of them to succeed. The Internet is a much larger playing field than PC operating systems. Who will win the rally is impossible to answer.

Apple, Google and Facebook are 3 innovative companies of the silicon valley representing the fundamental phase of information epoch by their current entry into the social networking domain.

Google advocates open web standards where as Facebook with 70 million users have a different approach. They offer more controlled experience and keeps its users safe within its walls. Apple is entirely different from both - they concentrate on their hardware section. They do have a web services like iTunes music store. Apple comes from the old world. Its elegant products cocoon customers from the chaos of the information age, but the Apple experience tends to be highly controlled, with Apple hardware at the end points and Apple software and services, like the iTunes Music Store, in between.

All the players are in for making Big money. With all these one can conclude that the future of Internet is at stake.

JBL's new ipod speakers

The JBL On Stage 200iD iPod speaker, has rich sound quality and an eye catchy design. JBL had brought out an earlier version of this which did not click among its customers. But this time, they emerge as winners with On stage 200i.

It looks no different from its older version, but the quality has been improved and is now available at a satisfactory price. The current market price is $150 which might come down in another 3 months time.

The audio quality is phenomenal, but there is no additional options. The design is pretty much like a starship - cool for some, for others it might not suit.
